PANGASINAN 2011: Lingayen Gulf Veterans Memorial Park

Lingayen is the seat of power of the Province of Pangasinan. It lies northwest of Manila approximately 6 hours land travel passing by the province of La Union. Lingayen is known for the historical significance of its gulf during the World War II (WWII) which is the extension of the South China Sea. The famous Hundred Islands of Pangasinan also lies west of its 56km coastline.

To commemorate and honor the heroes of WWII, a Veterans Memorial Park was established at the back of the Provincial Capitol of Pangasinan and just by the Lingayen Gulf Beach.

The park was unveiled in 2008 through the efforts of former President Fidel V. Ramos. Lingayen was his birthplace.

The memorial park features 12 panels containing photographs, maps and other memorabilia of the historic Lingayen Gulf Landing of Douglas MacArthur.

Making this place all the more interesting are the original gun machinery, fighter plane and battle tanks on display on its front grounds.

Paid my tributes to the heroes of WWII... Salute!!
