MARINDUQUE 2009: Boac Cathedral

First-off in the 2009 Marinduque Series is the Boac Cathedral. They say a visit to a church for the first time is worth one wish. There is nothing I would wish but to make this trip a great one.

The church has a replica of Rio de Janiero's Christ the Redeemer which stands overlooking the town of Boac from the hilltop location of the Boac Church.

The cathedral was built from bricks in 1792 as the home of the "Ina ng Biglang Awa". As most churches served as refuge to the rebels against the oppressors, this church had a fair share of history and filipino culture on top of religion.

Some of the church's interior wooden sculptures...

With the blessings and all of our wishes combined, a great trip ahead is most certain.
